3m hut: A real all-rounder
for markets and events

The first huts that Fjord Hütten made for the Flensburg Christmas market in the 1990s were 3 metres wide. And to this day, almost 30 years later, the “3m hut” is still our most popular type of hut. There are various reasons for this.
The most typical place of use for the 3m huts is the Christmas market. Whether for selling sweets, preparing grilled sausages, chips or crèpes or presenting handicrafts - even with the standard depth of 2.15 meters, this type of hut offers an astonishing amount of storage space. Whether with shelves on the back or side walls or under the counter, there is plenty of room.
The 3m huts are therefore also welcome “guests” at festivals or city festivals. These diverse uses make the huts particularly interesting for cities and event organizers: they can be used all year round for a wide variety of events.
Transport & storage
The 3m huts are just as practical when it comes to transportation and storage. For example, 16 huts can easily fit on a 40 t truck. With a combination of trailer and van, 6 huts can easily be transported. The plus point here is the low weight of the individual parts. Thanks to the modular design, the hut parts can be unloaded from a trailer without a forklift, true to the “4 men, 4 corners” principle.
When it comes to storage, the 3m huts are again very small. All parts can be easily stacked on top of each other so that not much space is required.
Handling during
assembly and dismantling
In addition to easy transport, the handling of the parts during assembly and disassembly also plays an important role. Although it may be tempting to buy permanently mounted huts on steel frames, huts built using this principle are considerably heavier and a forklift is needed to place them in a market or similar.
All of our huts are made using modular construction, and we do not use steel frames. The floor element also serves as a forklift pallet, meaning that the huts can be transported or placed in one piece. This has often proven to be particularly useful in crowded markets or narrow pedestrian zones.
A 3m hut can be built in around 15 minutes. As soon as the floor element has been positioned in the intended place and supported if necessary, the walls and roof elements are gradually assembled - finally the ridge and the panels and that's it.
